Here’s today’s Friday pic that I hope you’ll find worthy of a smile…
Ah, the August harvest. All kinds of things are ripe now. Especially melons.
Have you been growing things this summer, man? How’s it going? Your tomatoes ripe yet? How about corn? Peppers?
Even if you haven’t been growing much in the way of vegetables — or melons — this season, it’s not too late to plant seeds now for vegetables that you can harvest from September to November. It’s still summer, after all.
You can plant broccoli, onions, radishes, kale (very nutritious), cucumbers, peas, lettuce, and spinach now. Then look forward to eating them — and canning or pickling — this fall.
You can even plant flower seeds for some extra autumn color around the garden. Try daisies, marigolds, and fall-blooming crocus. You can plant iris now to give them a strong start on next spring.
Whatever gardening projects you’re currently working on, you can find everything you need to get the job done at Gardener’s Supply Company. Including eco-friendly and “green” products. By the way, they’re having a summer sale now on hundreds of items…
You, too, can enjoy harvesting the best, tastiest melons.
